I have just read a novel, entitled the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, written by Douglas Adams. It is a comedy adventure book.
It all begins when Arthur Dents small house is knocked down to create a bypass. Then, not shortly afterwards, the same thing happened to the earth. Luckily, he hitches a ride on a space ship with weird friend Ford Prefect. From then on the two of them see weird and wonderful things. Not to mention meeting new and old friends and foe. And then there’s a problem with the mice…
My favourite part is with Marvin, a very depressed robot, and Eddie the computer, the complete opposite. It is very funny about how Marvin reacts to the “happy” robots. Overall his drag charms had me laughing out loud.
My favourite character is Marvin, the very depressed robot, or ford, the travelling alien who got stranded on earth. I like Marvin, for the reasons I’ve expressed above. And I like Ford as he seems a very interesting bloke! I also like Eddie and Slartiebartfast.
Overall I loved the book, I thought it was hilarious. I loved the originality and the laugh out loud jokes. It’s my favourite book and I think it will take a lot to beat it!

Sam felt a sharp pain in his left wrist, he used his right hand serve some stability for it. He felt for the light switch and pressed, the light was dim and dying out. As he looked up, he felt fear from what he saw, or rather what he didn’t see.The corridor that usually held all his outdoor gear; his coats, his jumpers, his fleeces, etc, had gone. He cautiosly, slowly stood up. The coat pegs were had nothing on. He wondered if someone had taken him while he was sleeping and placed him in another bed. But then he dissmissed that idea when he saw his shoes, the thing hadn’t took them. The rumbling stopped, then started, then stoped and then carried on. Maybe the thing was sleeping or something. He decided to risk it… he pushed open the door leading to the living room.

Sam took a deep breath and grasped for the banister. He slid his hand a couple of inches down the rugged wood; it gave him a small splinter. Nothing was visible. He took his foot and placed it onto the first step on the stairs. He hesitated. The sound came again. It was like a deep breath rumbling in the darkness. His hand dropped a drip of blood from the deep splinter. His legs were shaking and his hands were screwed up; as if the thing would bite his arm if he kept it astray. He put his other foot forward and found the next step. It seemed so far away. The deep breath turned into a roar, he ran and tumbled down the stairs. He looked up…

Sam hesitated at the top of the stairs, blinking sleepily in the darkness. The blackness below was absolute, there was no light at all. The light switch was out of reach, way back across the landing. There was the noise again. The rest of the house was silent. What was it?
